San Diego Trails: Twin Oaks Valley

San Diego Trails: Twin Oaks Valley

Twin Oaks Valley Trail in San Marcos is an easy, four mile round trip which is believed to follow one of the first buggy and horse routes in the area, now home to many of the latest settlers.  It skirts the edges of the local golf course of Twin Oaks Valley, which was once filled with crops, orchards and beehives.  It’s a great, easy trail for hiking, biking or horseback riding, and dogs are welcome just so long as they are kept on a leash and don’t leave anything behind – clean up after your pet.

Twin Oaks Valley was so named because there used to be two oak trees growing out of the same base here, unfortunately the original twin oaks eventually died after around 200 years, everything must come to an end in time. If you fancy traveling along the Twin Oaks Valley trail, a good place to start is close to the Williams Barn located in Walnut Grove Park (north side) or alternatively, the other end is at Borden Road.
