San Diego Trails: Oriflamme Canyon

Oriflamme Canyon Trail in Borrego Springs is just a little over 3 miles, so you need to allow around 2 and a half hours for a round trip. It’s a pretty easy hike with some more difficult places in parts, but nothing too taxing. The trail is largely unmarked, following the path of the stream and can be a bit tricky to find sometimes, in fact, parts of it are pretty overgrown so you’d better wear long pants so that you don’t scratch your legs scrambling through the bushes. You also need to cross over a stream a few times, so a good pair of stout hiking boots are pretty essential really. You will find, however, that the cool air near the stream makes this hike an altogether pleasant, cool experience with lots of greenery to admire.

Oriflamme Canyon Trail actually starts around 3 miles along a dirt road (Oriflamme Canyon Road) for which you will need an AWD. Parking is available at the trail head.  Turn on the dirt road at S2 mile 26/27.
