San Diego Trails: Goodan Ranch Trail

The Goodan Ranch Trail is around three and a bit miles of easy peasy walking, cycling or horseback riding, which should take no more than a couple of hours even at a leisurely pace. The trail is great for everyone because the tracks are pretty wide and hard with plenty of room for everybody. You can even take your dogs but must keep them on a leash at all times.

The Goodan Ranch Trail was once a working dairy farm, not so long ago actually, and offers 325 acres of space, right next to 2270 acres of Sycamore Canyon Open Space. It’s sure a great place to get away from it all for a couple of hours. Watch out for rattle snakes in the summer, they like it here too so you’re better off keeping to the wide tracks where you’ll be able to spot them easily, nothing worse than “snakes in the grass” is there?

At the end of the trail you’ll arrive at the Goodan Ranch Center where you can find out about all of those different plants and wildlife that you actually did or didn’ t notice on your travels! They run different programs throughout the year, there’s even one on edible plants so you could find out about what snacks are available en route and impress your friends.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to go that far, same place different trail!
